The costs of an RCMP program are Costs for an RCMP program are risingskyrocketing for the city of Vernon and other BC municipalities. The fee for the records system PRIME (Police Records Information Management Environment) has doubled to $1,000 per officer, and Councillor Bob Spiers says the city has also had to hire new people to run the system. "There was no contemplation when PRIME first started that you would have to have a special person for being the PRIME analyst. It's quite concerning, but again it's more provincial downloading." The salaries tied to the program's one and a half positions will cost the city 110-thousand dollars, including the coordinator at $79,895 (includes benefits) and another half time court liaison position at a cost of $30,383. The city is forecasting a bill of $188,229 in 2010-11 for the service.
