Greater Vernon is now under Stage 3 watering restrictions. Water manager Al Cotsworth and NORD's head of engineering made the decision this morning to bypass stage 2 and go directly to stage 3 due to record low reservoir levels. It means residential, commercial, industrial properties are only allowed to water aesthetic landscaping one day a week based on your address, with more information on that coming out soon. Customers on both the Kal Lake and Duteau Creek source are affected. Hand held sprinkling and micro/drip irrigation is still allowed at any time. Agricultural users will be requested to reduce water use by 20 percent, and the farming water turn-on will be delayed until May 3.
Cotsworth says NORD will be advertising the new rules in all forms of media.
