Three people are facing charges after trying to escape police in a stolen vehicle. Two Citizens on Patrol members in Vernon noticed a van around 10:30 p.m. Saturday that had been reported stolen out of Williams Lake. The van was spotted at the 7-11 at 32nd Street and 39th Avenue. RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says when the suspects saw the police car they took off.
“The driver lost control and drove into a building at the corner of 39th Avenue and 33rd Street. Three people were taken into custody at the scene and two males and one female had to be treated for injuries,” says Molendyk. He says two of the suspects, a 27-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were from Alberta and the third person, a 29-year-old man, was from Vernon. “The two men remain in custody and are appearing in court. One had minor injuries to his head and the woman complained of a sore leg.”
