BC Tories Set Leadership Date

While the BC Liberals and New Democrats are involved in leadership contests, the upstart BC Conservative Party is  preparing for one of its own.  Wayne McGrathParty president Wayne McGrath of Vernon says a convention date has been set for May 28th, at a site likely in the Fraser Valley or Lower Mainland.  McGrath (pictured) says party membership has been booming in recent months, with support from fiscal conservatives coming from the Liberals.  He says, "We're approaching two thousand (members), whereas a year ago we had probably just a couple hundred or so, so we've made tremendous gains. We're getting several dozen new members every week, even during the Christmas period."
McGrath, who is a former mayor of Vernon,  says his party continues to sign up new members every day, even during a time when both the Liberals and NDP are frantically trying to sign up members as well.
