Prison Question Dividing Community - Another letter to the Solicitor General

Both the yes and no sides in the prison campaign in Lumby are wondering why it is taking so long for the Solicitor General's Office to announce where a jail will go in the Okanagan. `No' campaigner Huguette Allen says the province put a deadline on submissions and then promised a quick decision. Allen has written once again to the solicitor general complaining that the delay is costing money and perpetuating a divide in the Lumby community where there has been resentment between opposing sides. Allen wants Lumby ``at least'' taken off the list of potential sites. The `No' campaigner says municipalities and indian bands rushed to hold opinion polls and put together submissions only to have Victoria delay its decision when it had stated that would come in June.

Do RCMP with prisons in their communities have patrol partners?

Under the best of circumstances I wouldn't want someone I cared about attending calls alone on isolated dark roads.

Add a prison and its attendant issues to the mix, and it gets a whole lot scarier.
