CUPE Deal With Spallumcheen

  There's labour peace at the Spallumcheen municipal office. Mayor Janice Brown says they've ratified a new three year deal with their CUPE staff. The deal, retroactive to the start of the year gives 2 percent this year, benefit improvements next year, and two percent in 2014. "We feel it was a fair offer with the economy the way it is." Brown says the nine employees would have had 2 percent in each year, but chose the benefits instead. The negotiations had been going on since December.
